Matt Talks
A weekly CEO podcast
The situation:
In hospitality tech, hoteliers buy from people who understand their world. At the same time, executive branding and content was proving to be a powerful selling tactic. Founder-led content was the obvious play. The question was how to do it well, in a way that was scalable, and where metrics could be tracked to determine the ROI.
The solution:
We were lucky to have a CEO with strong opinions, deep industry credibility, and a love of the camera and conversation. With his full buy-in—and even encouragement—we began recording and publishing Matt Talks. We knew we had something. It would just need some love.
My role:
I, along with select colleagues, created a working group to launch the podcast and build a scalable process. As the Director of Content Strategy, I worked with the CEO to create a list of topics that would resonate with a hotel GM, collaborated with sales to identify the best guests, researched and selected the best tech platform, then produced and edited the episode, and marketed and distributed it.
The
Challenge
The question wasn't: Should we do this? It was how do we do this in a way that it will survive in the reality of day-to-day demands?
And, how do we make sure it offers value?
Among the decisions we needed to make:
-
What was the right cadence? Would weekly be too much? Would anything less risk losing people?
-
What was the role of the website?
-
How could we grow the audience?
Plus the process decisions:
1. An easy-to-use recording platform. (Riverside.fm)
2. A running list of topics and guests so we weren't repeatedly starting from ground zero.
4. How to use AI to work smarter and faster
Strategic Decisions
Marketing Assets

Website
We quickly discovered that this project needed a custom-designed site that could scale with the increase in videos, offer SEO value, provide an easy UX for visitors new to the podcast, and even provide a transcript for those who prefer to read or pull quotes. This is the result.

Podcast
In addition to Mews.com, the podcast is also available on YT, Spotify, and Apple, with the goal of reaching listeners where they are.
As newcomers to podcasting, we contracted with an agency to optimize the show for these channels.
